New Project! Photo-a-Day 2013 … Here’s Week 1

Along with my Lyric of the Day (#LOTD2013) project on Twitter (see today’s for an example), another project I’ve taken on for 2013 is a “Photo of the Day,” which is going to appear here on TomRants either weekly or semi-monthly, depending on my workload. I’m always looking to improve my photography skills, and seeking out an image each day is a great way to do that. Some of these will be very specific to the day at hand, and others will just be something that caught my eye.

So, without further ado, here’s Week 1 of 2013:

Picture This!? (Vol. 6, Kings Stanley Cup Run)

Last night, in celebration of the deal between owners and players to save what’s left of the 2013 NHL season, I was finally able to pull together a Flickr album of some of the better images from last spring’s Stanley Cup run by the L.A. Kings. The set of 50 images was shot in and around Staples Center between April and June. Below are a few sample images from the set. You can see the rest (50 in all) by simply clicking this link:

Picture This!? (Vol. 5, Spring 2012)

Today, I was finally able to pull together an album of images from the spring, shot in and around Southern California. From beach to city to ballpark … and from concert to eclipse to bars, there is a nice bit of diversity to this recent set. Below are a few sample images from my latest set on Flickr.
