Photo-A-Day 2013: Week 25

The week of June 17-23 started with a Monday date playing in a charity golf tournament in south Orange County and ended by spending the first full weekend of summer in one of my favorite places: Chicago. Let’s take a look at the week’s images!

17-JUN-2013: Not a bad view for a Monday afternoon, playing a charity golf tournament at Monarch Beach near Dana Point.

20-JUN-2013: View from the window of The Lodge on Division Street. Only in Chicago: a cop smoking a cigar, sitting on the hood of his squad car, hitting on a cougar.

21-JUN-2013: Love this image down the left field line at Wrigley Field. Check out the deep "foul pole" on the building across Waveland Ave., 460 feet from home plate.

Photo-A-Day 2013: Week 24

A business trip to New York City dominated the weekdays of mid-June on my calendar, with both business and the city highlighted in the images of the week. Let’s take a look at June 10-16.

10-JUN-2013: A view of Manhattan on a rainy Monday evening from my hotel room window.

11-JUN-2013: Part of the job, these group pix at industry parties take up more space on my memory cards than I'd like. That said, this group was just perfectly *random* enough to feature here.

12-JUN-2013: One of my favorite images of the year, the new One World Trade Center in NYC. Where does the sky end? Where do the buildings begin?

13-JUN-2013: Came in with a rainy picture of NY out the hotel window. Closing out NY with a picture of rain ON the hotel window.

14-JUN-2013: The week's reading material on my biz trip being unpacked. Really digging this book of interesting tidbits.

16-JUN-2013: This incredible miniature room (probably measuring 15-20 inches tall and 3-5 feet wide) is from "2001: A Space Odyssey" and was part of the Kubrick Exhibit at LACMA, hanging from the ceiling in one of the exhibit galleries.

#LOTD2013: March Playlist

#LOTD2013: MarchA busy April means I’m still playing a little bit of catch-up with my two “A-Day” projects for 2013. I’m pretty close on the Photo-A-Day project, but with the calendar turning to May yesterday, I’m now officially way behind on my Lyric of the Day recaps.

But, good news! I was able to pull together the list of March’s Tweets (find the Spotify playlist I’ve created from these lyrics linked at the end of the post or on the clickable image at right), with some brief explanations (in italics) for a number of the lyrics. Remember, if you want to see the lyrics as they pop up daily, just give me a follow on Twitter!

  • “Once I get you up there/Where the air is rarefied/We’ll just glide/Starry-eyed” #FrankSinatra “Come Fly With Me” #LOTD2013 3/1 (One day home between flights from Miami and to Chicago.)
  • Chairman back2back “My kind of town, Chicago is/My kind of razmatazz/And it has all that jazz” #FrankSinatra “My Kind Of Town” #LOTD2013 3/2 (On to Chicago, perhaps the most American city.)
  • “Believe, believe in me, believe/That life can change, that you’re not stuck in vain” #SmashingPumpkins “Tonight, Tonight” #LOTD2013 3/3

  • “Meet the new boss/Same as the old boss” #TheWho “Won’t Get Fooled Again” #LOTD2013 3/13 #newpope (Sorry, I’m not remotely religious and the supposed importance of picking this figurehead who ends up standing for so many outdated ideas always baffles me.)
